Anti-microbial

MatX Smart Materials has developed a biocide-free technology with anti-microbial, anti-mould, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties and ensures a >99.99% effectiveness against bacteria and that with only natural ingredients. This technique is applicable to a wide range of polymers for various production techniques, including injection moulding.

MatX works with different masterbatches for different polymers, for example: ABS, PE, PP, PS, PVC (soft), TPU, TPE, LSR and more. Adding 3% of the anti-microbial masterbatch from MatX Smart Materials gives the injection moulded object anti-microbial, anti-mould/fungal and anti-viral properties. The power of the technology is that it does not migrate and fade, which makes it 100% safe for humans, animals and nature, including for medical purposes. The material does not contain any harmful or toxic substances, silver, copper or nanomaterials. Bacteria that come into contact with the biocide-free material have hardly any chance of survival and the material inhibits the growth of microbes continuously.

After a lot of research and tests, MatX has incorporated this technology in their own filament which is called AMBX PLA. Click here to read more about or buy AMBX PLA.

Some applications and benefits

Why use an anti-microbial additive?

Companies that utilize an antimicrobial additive can offer a range of benefits to their customers, including increased safety, hygiene, and durability. An antimicrobial additive is designed to inhibit the growth of microorganisms, such as bacteria, fungi, and viruses, on the surface of a product. This can be particularly beneficial for products that are frequently touched or used in high-traffic areas, such as medical devices, food packaging, and consumer goods.

By adding an antimicrobial additive to their products, companies can help reduce the spread of germs and promote a cleaner, healthier environment. This can be especially important in industries such as healthcare, where the risk of infection is high. In addition to promoting hygiene, an antimicrobial additive can also help improve the durability and lifespan of a product. By inhibiting the growth of microorganisms, the product is less likely to degrade or deteriorate over time. This can be especially beneficial for products that are exposed to harsh conditions or used in outdoor environments.

The use of an antimicrobial additive is not limited to specific industries or products. It can be incorporated into a wide range of polymers. This makes it a versatile solution that can be used in a variety of applications.

In conclusion, companies that utilize an antimicrobial additive can offer their customers a range of benefits, including increased safety, hygiene, and durability. By incorporating this technology into their products, companies can demonstrate their commitment to both customer satisfaction and environmental responsibility.
